Grindelwald is the largest village in the Jungfrau Region. It is stretched in a beautiful wide valley. The Eiger and Jungfrau, with their respective 3970 meter and 4158 meter peaks, provide a special and impressive surrounding. The first chairlift in the world was built in Grindelwald in the ski resort that is very appropriately named "First" Bear. The ski area offers plenty of variety with good opportunities for both beginners and more advanced skiers. Around 2168 meters altitude, at the exit of the cabin lift which starts at Grindelwald, beginners can find some simple slopes. Snowboarders can enjoy themselves in and around Grindelwald, including the snowpark White Elements . Cross-country skiers and hikers can find many trails and footpaths. Grindelwald is a very family friendly village with several kindergartens and a nursery slope .
In the village you will find cozy typical Swiss restaurants and bars , which provide very cozy après -ski or a delicious dinner .
Grindelwald also has very good connections to the surrounding baptisms Wengen and Murren, in case you want to bring these places a visit .
The Jungfrau Region is formed by the resorts of Grindelwald, Wengen and Mürren. You have at various places in this resort a great view of the Eiger (3970 m), Mönch (4099 m) and Jungfrau (4158 m). This area, with a total track length of up to 229 kilometers, is a paradise for both beginners and advanced skiers.
The ski resorts of Wengen and Grindelwald lie very close to each other and almost all slopes are serviced by lifts, eventhough you'll occasionally need to use a ski bus. You will not find many Dutch tourists in the Jungfrau Region ski area, as the area is visited mainly by the Swiss themselves. The beautifully situated villages here have cozy après-ski possibilities.
Highly recommended for advanced skiers is the glacier trip where you create a challenging and adventurous route over the glaciers of the Jungfrau Region led by a guide. In addition, this place has a large cross-country ski area. All this makes Jungfrau Region a varied ski area .
