Skiing in Selva di Val Gardena

General information

Selva di Val Gardena in Italy (also known by its German name, Wolkenstein) is the highest ski resort in Val Gardena at 1563 metres elevation. It has the most slopes of all the resorts in Val Gardena, it is well-known as a starting point for the Sella Ronda ski circuit, and it is in a prime location at the foot of the Sella massif.

Selva: accommodation & activities

Compared to Ortisei and Santa Christina, Selva di Val Gardena has a fairly large centre. Most of the hotels and apartments in Selva di Val Gardena are within walking distance of the ski lifts and some even offer ski-in, ski-out access to the slopes. There are several excellent restaurants, bars, and cafés in Selva. The après-ski spirit is alive and well throughout Val Gardena, especially at the popular Luislkeller in Selva. Get acquainted with some of the local schnapps or mulled wine before dancing the night away in this vibrant and welcoming resort.

Selva has great snow coverage and a wealth of winter activities to enjoy. If you’re a freestyler looking to burn off some steam, check out Snowpark Sassolungo and Funpark Sassolungo. There is also an indoor tennis court and ice rink in Selva. The Langental valley is a popular winter hiking and cross-country skiing area in Selva, just waiting to be explored.

Skiing in Selva

The Val Gardena ski area includes 175 kilometres of slopes to explore. That’s 52 kilometres of blue slopes, 105 kilometres of red slopes, and 18 kilometres of black slopes. As such, Val Gardena is particularly suited to advanced skiers, but still has plenty to offer for beginners too.

As part of the vast Dolomiti Superski area, Selva di Val Gardena has excellent connections to a number of other ski resorts. With the ski pass included in your Sunweb ski holiday, you can roam the entire Dolomiti Superski area and its 1200km of slopes!
