Skiing in Chamonix

General information

Nestled in the valley at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps, you will find the charming Chamonix ski resort. It is one of the oldest and most renowned ski resorts in France, in a prime, sunny location bordering both Switzerland and Italy.

Chamonix: an iconic ski resort

Chamonix was chosen to be the host city for the first ever Winter Olympic Games, the kickstart of its now iconic status. It is an atmospheric, luxury resort with international allure and top-quality facilities. Its ski area encompasses many other, smaller villages and features free ski busses to help you get around. The area covers an impressive 995 – 4807 metre range in elevation, creating diverse and snow-sure pistes. You will have over 150km of slopes to enjoy there, with a good variety of runs for all skill levels. There are 6 areas specifically suited to beginners and children, making Chamonix a great destination for a family holiday. The Summit snowpark in the Le Tour neighbourhood is one of the biggest in Europe, featuring boxes, kickers, jumps, whoops, step-ups, and more – perfect for the freestyler in your life. With the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc ski pass included in your Sunweb holiday package, you can explore this large and diverse ski area with ease.

High-quality facilities and even higher peaks

Below towering peaks of Mont Blanc and Aiguille du Midi, Chamonix offers spectacular views and unique terrain. It has an excellent snow record, allowing you to ski there from mid-December until early May. Its deep snow gives you access to a range of fun winter activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, dogsledding, and ice climbing to name a few. After all that excitement you can wind down in the centre, where you’ll find a fantastic range of shops and first-rate restaurants. Don’t miss out on delicious local specialties like Reblochon cheese or Guimauves sweets in every flavour.

Nowadays, Chamonix has a lovely mix of classic hotels from the past and modern apartment complexes. Whether you’re looking for something right in the centre or close to the slopes, Sunweb has a wide selection to choose from.
