Mayrhofen is a charming alpine town located in the Zillertal ski area of Austria. Skiing has always been an important part of the area’s history, and it continues to draw in skiers from all over the world. Its rising popularity amongst British skiers is not without reason. Mayrhofen is part of Zillertal 3000, a ski area that offers no less than 338 kilometres of slopes to enjoy, including the (open year-round!) Hintertux Glacier and the steepest slope in Austria: the Harakiri. This variety makes Zillertal 3000 a popular ski area for both beginners and advanced skiers. The Hintertux Glacier is at an altitude of 3,250 metres, giving you guaranteed snow all the way from December to April.
If you book a ski holiday with Sunweb, a ski lift pass for the entirety of Zillertal will be included. That means you can use your ski lift pass to reach two more ski areas: Hochzillertal & Zillertal Arena. The Penkenjoch is perfect for those seeking a challenge, but plenty of blue slopes can also be found on the Ahornberg, north of Mayrhofen. If you want to go skiing somewhere different for a day, such as in Gerlos or Kaltenbach, you can easily get there by bus or train. Tempted to book a spontaneous ski trip? Sunweb offers a wide selection of last-minute ski deals, even if you want to travel with a large group or the whole family.
With a ski lift that reaches up to 3,000 metres altitude, you can rely on snow in Mayrhofen. The conditions are perfect for a ski trip, with both snow-surety and frequent sunshine. That means you can forget about the weather and focus on making memories. Mayrhofen offers thrilling slopes for daredevil skiers, and snowboarders can hone their skills at the PenkenPark. If you prefer off-piste fun, why not try your hand at curling or ice skating? Every April, music-lovers gather in Mayrhofen for Snowbombing, the largest snow and music festival in Europe. You can also dance the night away at one of the great apres-ski venues there, such as Brück’n Stadl. If you’d prefer a relaxing afternoon or to spend some quality time with the kids, soothe your muscles at the Erlebnisbad subtropical swimming pool. Are you ready to discover Mayrhofen?
