In the Austrian state of Salzburg and at the foot of the Dachstein, you will find the beautiful Filzmoos. This destination is very popular amongst families, as it has a bustling centre and plenty to do for the whole family.
Filzmoos is located near the Hohe Dachstein, a mountain peak 3000 metres high. It is the most remote village of the Ski Amadé. The centre has a charming look, partly due to a refreshing stream that flows through it, which attracts many families with small children.
Filzmoos is a true family paradise: Bärtl the Bear ensures that there is always something to do for children! On Mondays he tells beautiful stories in his bear den, on Wednesdays he goes on a horse-drawn sleigh ride, and on Fridays he takes an exciting walk through the village! All children are welcome to accompany Bärtl the Bear. Add to this a child-friendly ski school, easy slopes, and a special children's restaurant, and you will understand why Filzmoos is such a popular family destination.
In the winter you can of course enjoy some skiing, but there is also plenty to do in the summer. For example, hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding through the beautiful mountains. Prefer to climb one of those mountains? You can do that too!
The wide, gentle slopes around Filzmoos are popular as a starting point for hot air balloon rides and dog sledding, and the natural areas surrounding it are perfect for a beautiful walk. Over 30 miles of well-maintained winter hiking trails run through the untouched nature.
When you think of the Ski Amadé, you immediately think of an immense ski region, with almost 500 miles of slopes. Filzmoos is part of it, but has only around 6.5 miles of slopes itself. Unfortunately, its ski area is also not connected to other ski areas. To discover more of the Ski Amadé, you must use the ski bus or your own car. However, the Filzmoos ski area is characterized by wide, blue runs; perfect for honing your ski skills.
