The car-free village of Ischgl is one of the most popular ski villages in Austria. Partygoers and ski enthusiasts alike travel from all over the world to enjoy a holiday there. Trendy après-ski bars such as Kuhstall, Schatzi, and Niki’s Stadl make Ischgl the ‘Ibiza of the Alps’. Every year, the start of the ski season is heralded with a Top of the Mountain opening concert there, featuring popular live music.

Ischgl ski area: paradise for skiers and snowboarders

With around 350 kilometres of slopes on offer, the Silvretta Arena ski area is perfect for skiing and snowboarding. The area links Ischgl to the villages of Galtür, Kappl, and even Samnaun in Switzerland. The majority of the 41 ski lifts and stunning slopes in the well-known Ischgl-Samnaun area are located on the northern slopes, above 2000 metres altitude. This makes the snow conditions ideal for skiing. If you book a ski holiday to Ischgl with Sunweb, your ski lift pass will be included in the package!

Things to do in Ischgl

In addition to lively parties and a vibrant après-ski scene, there is plenty more to do off-piste in the Silvretta Arena. Think luxury shops, cosy cafés, and fantastic restaurants where you can try the local cuisine. If you’re looking for some adventure, don’t miss your chance to go tobogganing under the stars, snowshoe hiking, or practice your ice-skating skills. After an exciting day, you can unwind at the soothing Silvretta Therme spa. Ischgl is the place to be!

Silvretta Arena

With approximately 350 kilometres of slopes, the Silvretta Arena ski area is a paradise for ski and snowboard enthusiasts. The area consists of the Ischgl, Samnaun, Galtür, Kappl, and See villages, and spans both Austria and Switzerland. Most of the 41 ski lifts and beautiful slopes in the famous Ischgl-Samnaun area are located on northern slopes, above 2000-metres elevation. They are therefore very snow-sure. For snowboarders, Ischgl features a halfpipe and a fun park called Boarders-Paradise. Children and beginners can also take on the challenge there. For carving fans, a carving route has been made specifically for that. The Silvretta cross-country ski trail is approximately 48 kilometres long and connects the lovely ski villages of Ischgl and Galtür. Kappl and See are especially popular with families.

The village of Kappl is located on the sunny side of the Paznaun Valley, at an altitude of approximately 1200 metres. ‘Kappl’ comes from the phrase 'ad Cappellum', referring to the many chapels in the valley. It is a quiet village with a friendly atmosphere, consisting of several neighbourhoods built against the mountainside.
