Obertauern is a high-altitude village in the Radstädter Tauern mountains of Austria. Its elevation means that the area has great snow conditions, and you can often ski until the end of April there. Hikers will also have plenty to keep them occupied, such as the trail up to the Seekarhaus. At an altitude of 1797 metres, the view from there is simply stunning.
Obertauern’s après-ski scene is spectacular, with lively parties organised at the beginning and end of every winter season. The locals still talk about when the Beatles came to visit: much of the film Help was filmed in Obertauern!
